Likely, your map is too big for the web browser. Have you added more than one layer to your map? Even though you adhere to the 1000 feature limit, some web browsers can't handle drawing all of the features. From the symptoms you describe, I would guess that you are using Internet Explorer version 8 or earlier. But, all web browsers will start to get overwhelmed if you try to add lots of layers to them.

You can try using a different web browser, like chrome or firefox. If you're already doing that, you can try generalizing your features before you add them to a web map. Polygon and line data often have a lot of vertices, and these are all drawn by the web browser. Often, you can generalize the data without losing precision.

If you share your map with everyone then post a link to it, I can look at it.

Thanks,

Mike

ArcGIS Online - Map not saving, sometimes hangs browser

Hello, I have been trying over the past couple of weeks to upload my data to ArcGIS Online to create a map. I have adhered to the 1000 feature limit. Sometimes when I try to save my map, the browser will hang for a bit, but no message is brought back saying it saved, or saying there was an error. When I go to My Contents to open the map again, the latest layer I added and saved is not present. Saving does seem to work if it is the first time I have saved my map in that browser session. On any subsequent saves it doesn't seem to work. Also sometimes the browser will hang long enough that I have to kill it because it's been over 30 minutes of waiting.

Is anyone else experiencing issues like this? Do you have any workarounds? Are there any planned fixes coming out soon? ArcGIS Online is so slow it almost seems pointless to create a map in it.

Thank you!

-Jen
