A page with embedded map is slow to load initially which results in frustrated users.

Like the title says, a page with embedded map is slow to load initially which results in some frustrated users.

Is there something more going on than a delay while fetching and caching the initial tiles? It seems like something else is going on since switching between the basemaps does not have the same delay - switching to a previously un-cached basemap is quick and snappy. Is there some sort of optimization that's available for the embeded code that might help? Initial extent confusion? Any ideas?

It's a solid 12-28 second delay (hard to say exact but noticeable) - it seems like it may be a plugin loading or something initializing in the background since I get a little display flicker. This is organization-wide though so all browsers, mostly win7 64bit, mostly <4 year old hardware. My machine is dual 1 gig vid card, massive ram, etc and I see it, as does the low end of the roll outs.

Here's the link to the embedded map, but not embedded in your page. It loads fairly quickly for me. However, there seems to be slowness with ShowImage.aspx from your site. This returns images that are the point symbols both on the web map and on your page. On average, it looks like it takes a second to get an image.

Thanks for the tip about the �??ShowImage.aspx�?� - we'll investigate that ASAP. Viewing the map outside the wrapper was an obvious yet overlooked troubleshooting step as well, thanks for that too.
