Thank you for the response. I don't mind the group layer/extra level. What I am concerned with is: where are the signs? Only the supports are added to the TOC--no signs. In AGOL (on the right in the attachment), adding the service reveals the signs and the supports both.

Sharing in ArcGIS Online does not equal Sharing in ArcMap?

This post is specific to ArcGIS Online hosted services:

I have created content in ArcGIS Online and shared it with a group comprised of several members. When one of those members accesses the web map/layers/data in AGOL, all is well. But if he/she uses ArcCatalog to sign in to My Hosted Services, only that one individual's content is revealed--not all the content which is available to their group.

The same is true if the individual double-clicks Add ArcGIS Server and pastes in a service URL -- they cannot see all of the content which they can see by logging in via browser.

Is this expected behavior, and is there any documentation to clarify how ArcCatalog AGOL access differs from browser-based AGOL access?

If you click the File>Add Data>Add Data from ArcGIS online, you will see your "My Content" and Groups.

Thank you, that is better, but still different. I thought these three methods of signing in and accessing your hosted services were the same, but see I was mistaken. Can you recommend documentation I can read to better understand why they are different?

I have attached an image to better describe how the method you recommend differs from the online experience.

Thank you!

Hi Marianne,

When you add the Hosted Feature Layers to ArcMap, they're put into a Group Layer. That's why you are seeing that extra level in the TOC.

Hope that helps,
Andrew

When I add my own hosted features to ArcMap, I get all layers. Can you share the hosted features publicly and give us the URL to it? What version of ArcGIS Desktop are you running?

Thanks,

Mike
