Re-assign ownership?

I have recently taken over as Administrator of our ArcGIS Online account. Our previous Admin owns a lot of groups. I need to change their role from Administrator to User or Viewer but when I try to do that I'm told that because they own groups with update capability I'm not allowed to change their role. How do I re-assign the ownership of a group?

On the group's details page, on the right side of the page, there should be an option to Change Owner. Do you see this option for the group you are trying to edit?

Hi Susan,

First, in the Members tab of your Organization section, find the old administrator.
Click on the three dots by their name, and click "View Groups" for a list of the groups they belong to or own.
Click on the Group to view the details page of the group they own.
In the right side, you should see an option for "Change Owner"

Hope this helps! You will also need to re-assign ownership of or delete any items that they own.
