Error linking Google Sheet to webmap

I used to link Google Sheets to a webmap just by publishing the Sheet, then adding it as CSV to my webmap. Two weeks ago, this worked fine. Today I get errors, with the same Sheets, which are still shared in the same way. When I try to add the Google Sheet as CSV I get an error that the Sheet 'is not accessible':

When I open a webmap that used to have Google Sheets linked as CSV I also get an error that the Sheet 'is not accessible':

Can anyone offer a work-around or tell me how I can get these sheets linked in to my webmaps again? We are using these to coordinate among a bunch of project partners, and not being able to see our data on the map is frustrating.

It looks like you're running into an issue that was logged as a bug in our system about a week ago - Development has taken a look and is hoping to get a fix out as soon as possible. I'll make sure to update the thread once the fix is out.

Here is the BUG that you can subscribe to from MyEsri: BUG-000128074: A public CSV file published using Google Sheets and .. You can also Contact Support and attach your customer number as well. Feel free to send me a DM or email pklingman@esri.com and I can help with this process.

In the meantime does the Alternate Solution listed in the BUG suffice as a workaround?

Share documents as Excel files using either Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox using the second workflow in How To: Add and update Google Sheets data in ArcGIS Online. This method requires manual update to reflect any changes.

Add as an item in the ArcGIS Online Content tab:

Open the Content tab.
Click Add Item > From a cloud drive.
Select either Dropbox or OneDrive. Specify File Type and the sheet.

To update changes in the published hosted feature layer:
1. Open the item details page.
2. Click Update Data > Overwrite Entire Layer.

Thank you for the reply.

I tried adding a file from the cloud drive, and received this error: "Cloud

drive file is invalid or not found." However I can open it in Google Sheets

and edit it just fine.

If I can get the workaround to work, it could suffice temporarily, but the

real benefit from linking a Google Sheet is that the map is automatically

updated when any changes are made to the Sheet. I just don't have time to

do manual updates whenever there's a change (there will be a lot).

I'm not sure if this is an ArcGIS Online problem, or a Google Sheets

problem. I just know that on Jan. 16 all my sheets were linking to

webmaps just fine, and as of today (Jan. 30) they are not, and I changed

nothing in between there.

If it helps, the other error I get when trying to add from a cloud drive is

"!CONT_00272!"

Thanks for the reply here - right, the workaround would only be temporary. Our Development team hopes to get a fix out as soon as possible for the issue, then the auto-update from the Google Sheet will work again. The !CONT_00272! error should also be fixed at that time.

Can you try from One Drive or Dropbox, or upload the CSV file to the ArcGIS Online Content tab manually?

I'm out of office tomorrow but will make sure to check back here and respond Monday.

I don't have access to One Drive or Dropbox, but I downloaded a Google

Sheet as .csv, uploaded to AGOL and published as a feature layer, and added

to a webmap with no problem.

Hey Peter,

Unfortunately, the problem is not fixed yet. Data from GoogleSheets can be loaded and shown on the map BUT popups don't show the attribute data. Instead, 'No information available' is indicated. In the attribute table the data is visible.

Can you please let development know about this issue?!

Popups from Google Sheets seem to be working on my map, with all the

attribute data showing.

A few years ago I had the problem of popups from a Google Sheet listing the

field names but not the data (just blank), and the problem was that the

field names contained double colons :: Replacing those with _ solved the

problem.

Pop-ups are working on my end as well, I would definitely try Sarah's suggestion below. If this doesn't work I would contact Esri Support; they can take a closer look at the issue and see what is occurring with the pop-ups.

Hello Peter,

I'm having this issue with publishing my Google Sheet into feature layer in AGOL. I've used 2 methods:

Neither worked. The first method came out with an error that says no location can be found:

And the second method just straight out pops 'There was an error':

I've remade my Google Sheet countless time and recheck. Everything seems to be alright. But the errors persists:

Hi Lea,

The sheet has to be shared in CSV format to be added. For example, adding the Google sheet link directly will result in errors like those you are seeing above. For example, a valid URL might look like:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/<longGUID>/pub?gid=0&single=true&output=csv

I am getting the same error. When I try to update my googleSheet I just get an error that says

Error
Cloud drive file not found.

I have not changed the file name or made any changes. I was in fact testing this to make sure that the functionality will work as needed. But it seems it does not
