basemap border/extent possible?

Is it possible to limit the extent of arcgis online basemaps?

I know in ArcMap I can set the scale range but I do not see anything in arcgis online or the forums that show how to do this.

My end purpose is to embed an online map into a website but I do not want users to be able to see outside the map area I am showing.

So far I have found two possibilities to this:

Use a pre-constructed basemap from a layer that has limited visible area.
The API has a Constraint extent command

The pre-constructed basemap layer shows lots of white screen is users scroll around. So not a good limiting factor.

The API solution of course doesn't affect acrgis online...

Still digging about to see what I can find.

Hey!

Any luck with this? For a while now I've ben wanting to limit the basemap extents for AGOL apps I create, It would be a nice feature for the end user.
