How to create buffers for individual stations in one csv file?

I want to create buffers for 8 individual stations in one csv file and then turn and off the buffers for each station. I wasn't able to do this by analyzing routes for the stations in the csv file, instead it shows all buffers at the same time. I can highlight a station by clicking on it and seeing the buffers highlight or showing just one selection in the Table, but it's still not visually clear the difference between the other stations. I need to have an option in my layers to select each station and show the buffers for them individually, and I haven't figured out how to do this yet.

I found a work around for isolating stations and buffers for distance and drive time, but it's not ideal. If you upload a csv with each individual station you can run these route analyses for each one. I added the two Dungeness stations this way and recalculated buffers This lets you select each one independently, but also overlap to see differences.

Is there a way to do this without having to upload individual station csv files?

Still somewhat tedious, but you can zoom in on each station so only one is visible in the map frame then run the buffer tool making sure that the Use Current Map Extent option is check on. That will buffer features only found in the current map extent. See attached.

Or use the selection tool and and select the feature to be buffered and it will only buffer what is selected.

What do you mean by "Selection Tool"? I don't see an ArcMap-like tool to select only some of my features upon which to run the buffer tool.

Thank you, jrflannery! That worked, but do you know if you can then create nested layers with these individual analysis? Or will I have to make do with a long list of layers including one for each station, then the routes for each station, then buffers for each, etc?

THanks, rborchert! Do you mean use the selection tool for the in item in the Table and then run an buffer or drive-time analysis?

I know of no way to "group" or "nest" features that you add to your AGOL table-of-contents. Must all this work be performed within AGOL or can you perform this work at your desktop using ArcMap and then publish/share it to your AGOL account?

In an edit session it is the little tool that looks like an black arrowhead. If you hover over it then it will highlight as Edit Tool. Outside of an edit session you can use one that looks like a square that is half light blue and half white. It has an arrow running diagonally though the lower left corner. If you hover over it the popup will say Select Features.

Once you get a little more advance you can add other selection tools like

Select by Lasso
Select by Circle
Select by Line
Select by Polygon
Select by Rectangle
You can also try
Select by Attributes or Location. But those may be a little more tricky than this particular situation requires.

If you use one of these tool you can select any single feature in the ArcGIS session. However, you need to have the layer selectable.

I would suggest runnig through some of the tutorials that ESRI has available. One of them should detail on how to select features using the various tools on ArcGIS.

Thank you for the additional information. I think that you are talking about the use of Selection tools in ArcMap. Tami is working in ArcGIS Online (AGOL) trying to run buffers on individual features. The selection tools you mention are not available in AGOL.

Joe, Working with ArcGIS Online is my limitation, but the nested layers aren't necessary, just thought it would be more user friendly. Thanks for you help.

Robert, I'm not sure where to find this edit icon or what it means to be in an edit session. Can you explain a bit more for this ArcGIS Online beginner. Thanks!
