ArcGIS-online VIEW-layer: Area of interest is not saved in JSON

While updating a layer in ArcGIS-Online, the area of interest of a related view layer in ArcGIS-Online is not saved in the JSON. The area of interest is manually drawn.

Are you sure? I've been able to find and alter the AOI shape in the JSON. Where are you looking?

Yes, i know it must be possible to edit it with python, but when it's an existing view and you update the source layer, the AOI is not working anymore. And when i try to draw it again in the view layer, it gives an error while saving it. So i am thinking to make a new view-layer with an AOI, but that's complicated, because i shared my view already.
