Ability to download ArcGIS Online templates post configuration

I would like the ability to download ArcGIS Online templates (such as the Basic Viewer and Public Information applications) post configuration, similar to what you can do with Web AppBuilder (you can import into the developer edition).

At the moment you can get the source code with default settings only. The documentation doesn't go into detail as to best practices for configuring the templates. It would be very useful for anyone customising these applications.

While we don't have the option to download a configured template you can configure your app in ArcGIS Online then copy the application id from the url and use that in the downloaded template. The templates all have a default configuration file where you can paste in the appid you get from online and once you do so all your online configurations will appear in your locally hosted copy.
