Layer distinction depending if all sub layers are toggled on or just some.

Notice in the image below, how google earth uses a different symbol when not all of the sublayers are checked on. We have found with our beginner users, many assume that if a layer is checked, all that layer is on and don't realize you can click a layer to see sub layers. We are training, but we are also creating many of our maps for the general public to use. Some form of distinction would be beneficial.

This is along the same lines as one of my ideas - to make it more obvious in ArcGIS Online when layers aren't shown because of the scale. It's one of the many things that beginner users will miss, and make incorrect assumptions
