Add markdown as a supported format in ArcGIS Online

Markdown is gaining wide usage thanks largely to Github's support of the format. It makes formatting text a snap and would be especially useful for quickly formatting the description pages for ArcGIS Online content. It would also be very useful as an option in the custom popup window configuration in webmaps.

It would be very useful if you could render markdown formatted text in the description field of metadata.

+1 for the need to render markdown formatting in the description field of metadata. Critical need for users to be able to easily read and understand metadata.

Same issue here. Need to render markdown formatted text in the description field of the metadata. Seems crazy this isn't implemented yet. It's a big limitation to us moving one of our major systems over to ESRI

YES! Please render markdown formatted text for description fields for metadata!!!!!!!!! This has been a major hurdle for me and lot of other people it looks like. Why is this not yet a thing?

Would LOVE it if you could render markdown formatted text in the description field of metadata. That would be a game changer!
