idea Save Visible Fields in Feature Service Data Tab in ArcGIS Online Ideas

When reviewing service data in the Data tab, it is common that not all of the feature layer's fields are visible here. By clicking the Show/Hide Columns tab, you are able to toggle on and off which fields are displayed in the Data tab. After turning them on and off though, these selections are not saved, and this step must be repeated if you go our of the data tab and return.

This can be misleading because if you forget that some of the fields automatically turn off, then you may think the field wasn't populated with data when completing data collection, when in reality, it was just being hidden.

I would like to propose that this list of visible and hidden fields in the Data tab, accessed through the Show/Hide Columns tab can be saved to the feature service just like other settings are, so that the list of data fields is consistent every time when using the data tab.

Is there a workaround for this? How can we retain the field visibility settings so they stay as configured without needing to toggle them on or off each time the page (Feature Layer Data tab) refreshes?

As shown in the attached screenshot, I would like the ObjectID field to remain visible by default. Currently, it has to be manually enabled every time the page refreshes.

This is particularly confusing for some non-technical staff, as ObjectID is typically the first field they look for when reviewing data of this feature layer.

Hi @GISsolutionIZ ,

Are you the owner of that dataset? If so, you could save a table configuration to the item via Map Viewer (or the Visualization tab). The data tab will honor that table configuration, including visible fields, by default.

Check out this blog (specifically the Table configuration section) for more info: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-online/data-management/manage-attachments-and-table-configurations
