idea Create Feature Layer Setting to Allow/Disallow Overwriting in ArcGIS Online Ideas

Create a settings switch for Hosted Feature Layers to allow or disallow a feature layer from being overwritten from ArcGIS Pro or other platform that would cause a loss of data for the related feature layer. This would be similar to the switch that allows or disallows a feature layer to be deleted.

The option would be added under "Deletion management" and say "Prevent this item from being accidentally overwritten"

This would help prevent the catastrophic loss of data that cannot be avoided with the prevent deletion setting alone. Documentation in "Manage hosted feature layers" that says enabling sync or edit tracking would prevent overwriting is incorrect, as I had a feature layer created by Survey123 accidentally overwritten (with loss of all collected survey data) when someone was trying to overwrite a different hosted feature layer.

Hi @DanielMellott,

I think this would be a great addition to our data management options in ArcGIS Online, so I have logged this as an Enhancement request for our development team to review.

Thank you for sharing your idea with us!
