topic Creating a Network with Existing Data, Complex vs Simple? in ArcGIS Network Analyst Questions

I have an expansive FDS with Water Utility data. I personally want to create a network with complex edges so that I can retain the current unique IDs that we assign to our pipes. However we are working with an outside firm that requires us to deliver our FDS with a network that only has simple junctions.

If I were to export my data and recreate the network, would all of the lines be split and have junctions assigned at the intersections?

How are the junctions automatically created? When I created the network that I use personally I had to go in disconnect and reconnect a ton of things.

Im very frustrated as I keep being told the best way is to truly rebuild everything from scratch, and that just isnt going to happen.
