ArcGIS maps for Creative Cloud "file is in an unknown format" error

I have the latest 3.3 version of the plugin which was working fine in Illustrator 2021. I just updated Illustrator to version 27. However, now when I try to sync a map, I'm getting an error message that says the file "is in an unknown format and cannot be opened." (attached screenshot of error message).

I installed Illustrator 26.0 to check that version, and it's happening there as well. I cannot convert back to Illustrator 2021 now, as it's too old and unavailable from Creative Cloud.

A map will sync using the Legacy map settings, but I really would prefer not to use those basemaps.

Is there any explanation for this or a way people have fixed it? Thanks!

If you upgrade Illustrator to a new major version like v27 after installing the ArcGIS Maps for Adobe extension, you need to uninstall and reinstall the extension to ensure proper functioning.
