Hello,

I have just started using ArcGIS Maps for AdobeCC. Part of my workflow requires importing the .AI map to Rhino, a CAD program, in order to create a 1:1 scale drawing in that environment. I have been unable to get my .AI to import to a correct scale so far and I am wondering if there is something I am misunderstanding about the scale of the drawing created by ArcGIS.

I have created an .AI map with the present "streets" level of detail of 1:9027.

My resulting document is 73.01 x 59.01" .

My assumption is that 1 drawing unit = 9027 real units

or 1" on the drawing = 9027 real inches or 752.14'

However, this doesn't ballpark close to dimensions I am measuring on Google Earth:

Feature measured on drawing: .9716 "

Figure measured on Google: 584' = 7008"

This should produce a ratio of 1" = 7213" (7008/0.9716)

I am not sure what I am miscalculating here.

Thanks for any help with this.

Update - I created a new illustrator file in CM and generated a new map. This new map succeeded in creating a graphic scale. The "official" scale value was 9050, with a 2.3823 CM line corresponding to 0.1 mi.

I checked this against a measured feature and it is close enough to be correct (2.5624 CM = 0.108 mi = 570', measured feature = 575').
