Hi Nancy,
Thanks for your reply!
I built my NIS database in SQLServer Express. The property of the Central Database Repository Workspace was set using the Database Server Connection. The property of the workspace was "C:\Users\amypc\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.0\ArcCatalog\AMY-PC_SQLEXPRESS.gds\NIS"

I have changed the workspace property to Spatial Database Connection. The property of the workspace now is "C:\Users\amypc\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.0\ArcCatalog\Connection to amy-pc.sde". With is property, I'm successfully set the CDR Owner Workspace.

I'm curious about these settings.
1. Does NIS database support only Spatial Database Connection?
2. Under Nautical Properties, I have set the Central Database Repository Workspace. What's the purpose of Set CDR Owner Workspace?

Amy

The CDR Owner connection property is to give non-admin SDE connections the ability to create products using the Enterprise workflow. This property is to be set by someone who has the SDE admin connection. Once they set this property the admin connection properties are stored in the CKB_File table and are referenced by Populate when creating replicas by non-admin users.

With SQL Express, everyone is automatically the Admin or Data owner so there is no need to set the property.

Hi Ruel,

It looks like you need to set the NIS workspace within the Nautical Properties before running the Populate process. To do this:

1. In ArcMap, go to Customize > Production Properties
2. Click on the Nautical Properties item
3. Under the Central Database Repository section, click in the "Click to edit property" and click on the ellipses button
4. In the browse dialog, navigate to the location of your NIS workspace, select it and click Open
5. Click OK to save your property settings and close the dialog

If you don't have an NIS workspace go to the Help and search on the topic "Setting up the NIS database". Follow the steps outlined in this topic. Hope this helps.

Andy
