Interactive Legend Instant App: Introduction Panel Not Appearing

Hello all,

I have been working on a map in the instant app, interactive legend for a few months, and it is supposed to have an introduction panel that opens on start. The introduction panel used to function properly as little as two weeks ago. However, now it does not open when I start the app, and clicking on the widget won't open it either. As far as I can tell none of the setting have changed. (See below)

Please let me know if there is anything that can be done. Thank you.

What happens if you open the app in an incognito browser? Does the info panel show up?

I am having the same issue with an app I created yesterday. The introduction panel does not open and clicking on the widget doesn't do anything. Thank you for any assistance.

I'm also having the same problem - the intro panel will not work with the interactive legend template. (It does work with other templates, though.) The intro panel will not pop up at start or when clicking the button in the upper-right corner. Doesn't matter what browser, what platform, incognito or normal. Has a bug been filed on this yet?

I'm having the same problem. My nonprofit is just about to release a map to the public and now the introduction is not showing up at all. I'm wondering if anyone from ESRI has a solution to this. Thanks!

This is a known issue with Interactive Legend and will be fixed in the next release of ArcGIS Online.

Hello,
This bug has been reported and logged. We have taken a closer look at this and there appears to be an issue within the app code. A fix will be implemented and included at the next ArcGIS Online update.

In the meantime, here are a list of apps that also support an introduction panel:
- 3D Viewer
- Attachment Viewer
- Chart Viewer
- Exhibit
- Insets
- Media Map
- Nearby
- Portfolio
- Sidebar
- Slider
- Zone Lookup

Hi Ryan,

Any update on the status of resolving this bug? I have two public web maps that have an introduction panel. Replacing the links to those web maps which have already been distributed widely in my organization would be quite a tedious process so hoping to hear more about the resolution of this bug.

Hi,

I have a number of instant apps built using the Interactive Legend app and now some of them are failing to load at all, and one loads but the interactive legend doesn't load, or loads after a long wait but is not interactive (ie can't filter on the items).

All of the maps were working fine until a couple of weeks ago 😞

I've now discovered that if the layer that the interactive legend is linked to is hidden by default upon loading, then the interactive legend will not work correctly when the user then unhides that layer.

This worked until recently (and was useful!).

Is there a formal process to report this as a bug?

@KCoulter If a layer is hidden in the map, it will not show in the legend. Once the layer is toggled on, it will show in the interactive legend. If there are no visible layers, the legend will show a message that says "No Legend". Hidden layers should not cause the legend to load slowly though. Do you have a sample you could share?

Yes I know this - as I mentioned in my post, when the layer is unhidden the interactive legend does load (after a delay) but fails to respond (ie it is not interactive).

Unfortunately I cannot share an example as the layer contains confidential data.

I know this was resolved in 2023 but I feel that the issue has resurfaced. I created an interactive legend app around October 2024 and everything worked. I recently realized that the widgets are gone from the app.

1) I have my layers unhidden in my map

2) While configuring, I toggled on these widgets: search bar, bookmark, export, and basemap toggle

3) I made sure to publish

but none of them show up. I even tried to make a 2nd version of my app and still no widgets. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you @BethRomero @RyanLibed
