How can I create a bar chart from a summary table in arcgis insights? Im surprised that the chart option is grayed out when table is selected. See image

In Insights a bar chart is created from a string field and a numeric field (Create and use a bar chart—ArcGIS Insights | Documentation). You have selected multiple numerical fields in your contents pane and therefore the bar chart is not available. You would need to do some kind of preprocessing of your data before you can create that kind of bar chart.

Hi @OskarPenje1 and @AndreasHall,

Great news! You can easily create bar charts from summary tables in ArcGIS Insights! Just not exactly the same as you would with a reference table. Still only one drag and drop away! 🙂

Below is a GIF showing you how.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Create summary table

2) Go to Data Pane (table of contents looking thing on the left)

3) You will see your new Summary Table in Orange. Rename it if you want so it's easier to remember.

4) Open the Summary Table and grab the fields you want to create a chart from.

5) Drag those fields over the page and drop on the chart type you want.

Note: I create summary tables all the time to create new datasets and visualize them. When you create a Summary Table, you're literally creating a new dataset -- you can even export it -- for future analysis. It's so fun!
