topic Allow editing of Hub pages/site by external ArcGIS Online Org users in ArcGIS Hub Questions

Hello, looking for best practices to allow editing of a basic Hub Site and associated pages by external stake holder users that are in external organizations. This is a collaborative effort between state agencies that want to work on a common Hub site and pages.

Ordinally for users within my Org I'd simply create a group with shared-update enabled and add the users and apps to that group so everyone could edit.

However, if I have users in external organizations that I want to edit the app and associated pages, I believe I must use Partnered Collaborations between our orgs to allow application editing.

But I'm not sure how this works as it seems that Hub requires that a group shared to do this work must be a shared-update group. External org users cannot be in that group, as I understand it. According to this:

Set sharing and access—ArcGIS Hub | Documentation

What's the best way to allow external orgs to edit a standard Hub site/app? Am I going about this the right way? Is it impossible to use those external org users to do this work?

Hello @TrebinMT,

Thanks for the context. You are on the right track! The process for co-editing Hub content with external org users works the same way across the broader ArcGIS platform.

The two requirements for cross-org editing:

The items must be shared to a Shared update group.

All users who need to edit (including external org users) must be members of that group.

Once you have your Partnered Collaboration setup (See: Create a partnered collaboration), collaboration coordinators from each org can invite members into Shared update groups. All items within that group can be co-edited by members of both orgs.

Hope that helps clarify the path forward! Let us know if you run into any issues along the way.
