If you create a Mobile Project and save it to the appropriate location on your USB stick, you can point the ArcGIS Mobile application to recognize your USB stick as a "Project Location". You would not need to copy/deploy the FGDB & MXD to the Tablet that the mobile workers are using in the field.

Here's a link to a short instructional video that might help: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2181249/Deploying%20an%20ArcGIS%20Mobile%20Project%20with%20ArcGIS%20Desktop.mp4

I have made a Mobile Project on an USB-stick. On this stick is also the fGDB, Tile-Cashe folder with basemaps etc.
There is relative path on everything.
Everything is functioning OK on my PC from the USB, and i can move it from C: to 😧 and to E: and it will work.

BUT when i move it to another PC it wil get broken links to data.....:WHY ??? Even if i open the mxd through the LAN i wil get broken links.......WHY????

Yes i can fix it, but then i mesh-up the Mobile Project. I can afford this because i have to send a fully functioning Project from Country A to Country B and the guys in the other end has only ArcGIS Mobile.

Any solution ???????????????

Are you using ArcMap to build a Mobile Map (MXD) and then using the GP Tools in ArcCatalog to create a mobile map (cache) and then use the Mobile Project Center to create your Mobile Project? Or, are you doing this through ArcGIS Server?

The more details you can provide, the better we can help.

In the meanwhile, you can reference these PDF's

How to Create & Use A Tile Cache: https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D6019990_8385742_86560

How To Deploy an ArcGIS for Windows Mobile Project with ArcGIS for Desktop: https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D6019990_8385742_686552

I make the MXD in ArcMAP.
I use the GP tools to make the Cache.
I use the Server to make Raster tile caching.
I use Project Center to add the ArcMap made operational layers and the server basemaps.
I use Project Center to make som national language settings.
I "save a wmpk" from MPC.
I install the wmpk on a PC (it comes with a failure, because it cant see the cache.....somehow the install forces a P_ in front of the folder name and therefor it can't installe the cache, but i copy mine to the installe folder afterwards and then i will function).
I copy the Raster tile caching from the server to the USB stick
My fGDB is also the USB stick.

I can now open the project in Mobile on a tablet and i WORKS fine.
I can open the project from the PC i mobile and it works.

EVERYTHING is on a USB stick.

But if i take the USB stick and use it from a laptop it get's broken links in the MXD ??????

And i have to deploy a functioning project on a USB stick, because our field-teams are without GIS knowledge, they are in the mittle of nowhere and they only have the Mobile on their tablets/gadgets.
