At 10.2 you wil be able to install Portal for ArcGIS Server and this effectively gives you AGOL behind your firewall. With this in place you will be able to access the feature services on your ArcGIS server. Until then you will need to continue to use mobile services with GLOBALIDS on the feature classes.

Cheers
Gordon

Good morning all!

We've been trying to get the new ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 10.1.1 package working against our ArcGIS Online subscription account so we can use hosted feature services, but we are having no luck in getting Mobile Project Center (MPC) to recoginze our ArcGIS Online subscription account login when trying to add operational layers.

Our connection properties (to include the 'https' requirement) to our ArcGIS Online account are properly set in the File -> Settings dialog but when we go to add an operational layer from the Map -> Add -> Operational Layer from Feature Service dialog a login window appears asking for (we presume) our ArcGIS Online login credentials. When we enter those credentials and click Sign In nothing happens. It's as though the mouse click does not even launch the procedure call.

However, we CAN go to Tools -> Dowload -> ArcGIS Online and a connection to our ArcGIS Online site is automatically made and we can see the folder structure set up for the individual logging in. This seems to tell us that our connection setting established in the Settings dialog are correct.

We've experienced this on both a Windows 7 and Windows 8 desktop.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

The issue you are running into is a known Software Defect that ESRI is aware of and is addressing. I was able to reproduce the same issue on my end as well.

The Software Defect is: [NIM089305:Mobile Project Center does not respect changes to the portal URL when adding feature services.]

The issue is that when an invalid ArcGIS Online URL is entered the first time, that URL gets cached by the software and does not respect changes made to it in order to make it valid. For example, I first entered my URL starting with an http and not an https.

Please try the following workaround;
exit MPC, launch MPC > File > New
File > Settings > Content Sharing > ArcGIS Portal
format URL as https://ess.maps.arcgis.com/sharing

Then you will be prompted to sign in using your AGOL Organization credentials and it should work successfully.

Thank you.

Hello,

Please try the following workaround;
exit MPC, launch MPC > File > New
File > Settings > Content Sharing > ArcGIS Portal
format URL as https://ess.maps.arcgis.com/sharing

Then you will be prompted to sign in using your AGOL Organization credentials and it should work successfully.

I tried the above, and it still failed. I then did the following slightly differing routine that worked:

Exit MPC
Launch MPC
File > Settings > Content Sharing > ArcGIS Portal > format URL as https://XXX.maps.arcgis.com/sharing (replacing the "XXX" with your AGOL org name)
Add > Operational Layer from Feature Service > input AGOL credentials....

Thanks
