Is it because the Package Data process creates a map cache and if the project contains a map cache and nothing else and there are no changes to the layer's settings at the project creation stage, then there is no reason to re-create the cache, because it exists already? If this is the case, then why do I still not get the Package Data option available to be if I make changes to the layer (such as field visibility, removing tasks from project etc).

Still confused.

Why is the Package Data option in Mobile Project Center greyed out? I am running ArcGIS for Mobile 3.0 with an operational layer from mobile cache added to the project. This cache only has one layer which is set to "provides read-only reference information". This map cache was created with ArcGIS for Desktop 10.0. Is there a compatibility issue between desktop 10.0 and AGM3.0? Documentation suggests that they are compatible which leads me to believe I am doing something else incorrectly.
