Field staff tracking with ArcGIS Mobile

Hi There,

I am working on a project requirement that requires tracking field staff. I have seen some demos for ArcGIS Mobile and it seems like, it provides a good framework for what I am looking for. As a proof of concept application, I am trying to see if I can track the location of field staff and do a buffer and check if any staff is crossing the buffer area then prompting them with an alert.

I am new to ArcGIS Mobile and trying to figure out details related to this. I am looking for some feedback from folks who have done similar type of implementation in the past. Since I need to track the location of the field staff at all times so I am also looking for a way to have constant communcation in the field.

I would really appreciate any input on this.

I am using the windows tablet out of the box solution and I have the field tracking extension working.
I'm not sure about creating a buffer and alerting the fields team if they do cross it.

If you are creating your own application from scratch, I am not sure about this.

If you are using an out of the box solution and would like to attempt to customize it, please let me know, and I help you get started.
