We are pleased to announce the release of Esri Maps for SharePoint 3.0.

Key new features of Esri Maps for SharePoint 3.0 include the following:

Tight integration with the ArcGIS platform
The ArcGIS platform is Esri�??s enterprise sharing and collaboration platform and is available as a secure Esri-hosted solution (ArcGIS Online) or on-premises solution (Portal for ArcGIS). It brings numerous benefits to Esri�??s SharePoint mapping offering including the ability to leverage new global geocoding, routing, and geographic data enrichment services and; the ability to securely publish and share your business data as map layers and as fully-configured interactive maps to members of your organization or to anyone else you want, whether or not they have access to SharePoint.

A brand new JavaScript-based map web part
The Esri Maps Web Part is based on a new JavaScript-based HTML5 architecture and works seamlessly with the ArcGIS Platform, including both ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS. If you can create or customize a SharePoint page, you can create maps with Esri Maps for SharePoint. There are numerous intuitive and configurable tools available for mapping, styling, grouping, analyzing, and sharing your organization�??s data.

New options for creating maps with your external business data
Esri Maps for SharePoint 3.0 offers even more ways to map, visualize, analyze, and share your organization�??s business data with support for connecting to, map-enabling, and enriching your external data warehouse through SharePoint Business Connectivity Services (BCS) connections to your SQL Server tables.

New ways to interact with your mapped business data and create map-enabled dashboards within SharePoint

Tried updating an existing 2.1 instance. Double clicking the setup.exe first returned a message that .Net 4.0 wasn't installed (3.5 SP1 was). Installed .Net 4.0, but now getting a message "Cannot load assembly Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=15.0.0.0. . . Please ensure that the setup.exe for ESRI Maps for SharePoint matches the correct version of SharePoint Server on your machine". This is a dev server with SharePoint Foundation 2010 (v 14.0.6029.1000).

Is there a separate installer for SharePoint 2010 vs 2013?

Yes, there are two separate installers for SharePoint 2010 and 2013. They should be next to each other on the main downloads page.

Hi,

I get the following error when I "sign in to ArcGis online to use ESRI maps" using the ESRI maps web part.

Your browser configuration does not support sending secured content. Your sign-in was canceled to ensure password safety.
How can I fix this?

I'm guessing you are using Internet Explorer? You need to go to the Esri Maps Administration (under Site Settings) and open the Configuration Settings list. In there, set AllowSignInOverHttpProxy to True. Note that this setting will allow sending a password over http instead of https.

Hi Kellen,

No problem. I don't have up-to-date doc for that yet, but here's the process:

Go to the Site Settings page of your SharePoint site. In SharePoint 2013 you can get to this page using the "gear” button next to your name in the upper right corner. In SP2010, this is under Site Actions>Site Settings from the menu in the top left. Screenshots below:
Once you're on the Site Settings page, you'll see Esri Maps for SharePoint Administration.
Click Configuration Settings:
In the Configuration Settings list, change AllowSignInOverHttpProxy to be True instead of False:

Oh, I see. Okay, so it looks like you don't have privileges for the Site Settings. You'll need to have the admin who installed Maps for SharePoint go in and make the change.

Are you guys moving away from the Silverlight ArcGIS Map web part in favor of the Javascript ESRI Maps web part? The attachment bug with the ArcGIS web part has been out there for years with no resolution, just wondering if this is intentional and we should move in a different direction (the JS web part), or not.

Hi Ray,

Yes, with the release of Esri Maps for SharePoint 3.0 we introduced the JavaScript-based Esri Maps Web Part and we encourage you to migrate to this new web part. Due in part to Microsoft's move away from Silverlight, we are no longer focusing development efforts on the Silverlight-based ArcGIS Map Web Part, and therefore it is unlikely that issues such as the links to attachments that you refer to will be resolved.

Hi Chris,

In version 3.0, no, we still had some parts that relied upon Silverlight. As of version 4.0 Beta 1, though, I believe we've migrated all parts of Esri Maps for SharePoint to JavaScript and no longer rely on the Silverlight framework.

Our 4.0 Beta 2 release should be headed out via the Beta Community shortly...

Yes, I've just confirmed with the developers. The only place where Silverlight is used in Esri Maps for SharePoint 4.0 Beta 1 and higher is in the old Silverlight-based map web part. All other pieces, including the Esri Maps Web Part, have been migrated to JavaScript.
