ArcGIS Enterprise installation query

Hi all,

We are trying to install the Portal resources for ArcGIS for Office and we have a few queries we hope someone please clarify.

On the Portal server, do we need:

We went through the installation notes and downloaded the zip file and the portal resources exe.

The resources exe was hard codied to only installed in c:\program files... yet our Portal is installed on the d:\. How do we connect the two?

After we unzipped the file we were presented with 3 folders (doc, excel, powerpoint). Are we supposed to put them somewhere meaningful?

Finally, the documentation states two different locations:

Which one is it? And how does this actually get created?

Hopefully we are just missing something trivial, so it would be great if anyone else has gone through this.

Hi Gareth,

You only need to install ArcGIS for Office on the Portal machine.

Are you running Windows or Linux?

If you are running windows the installer will copy the required files to the correct destination.

According to the documentation you should be able to change the installation directory.

in addition to David,

1. you don't need Microsoft Office installed on the portal ( only on the client machine )

2. the installer in windows will create everything needed from the zip file (no need to unzip it)

3. the location that worked for me in excel was

....../portal/resources/arcgismapsforoffice/2021.1
