Collecting data on offline maps

We took our iPad out into the field to collect some data in Fieldmaps. However, the area we were in was outside of the area downloaded in our offline map. It still let us collect the polygon, but when we hit submit we get this: "Error: The geometry is outside the map area"

Is there any way to not lose this collected data?
