Field Maps Form not used when editing multiple features

I have a Form defined in the Field Maps web app that conditionally displays a required date field when a certain value is selected. When editing a single feature in the iOS app, this works as expected. When editing multiple features, it appears that Field Maps defaults back to the popup configuration defined in the map. How can I use the Field Maps form when editing multiple features?

Unfortunately, the form is not used when editing multiple features. There are no workarounds at this time but is something we plan to support in the future. How many features are you trying to edit at a time and how complex is your form?

Sounds good. I was able to somewhat accomplish what I needed by setting the editable fields on the map popup configuration. The main feature of the form that I was looking to accomplish was to conditionally show and require a field based on the selection in another field. I want to require an approved date when the approved status is selected. I'm having to use triggers on the database now to handle this. I would say around 20-30 features max would be edited at once. The number of fields is 2-6 depending on the permissions of the user.

Has someone started an ArcGIS Idea for this functionality so that we can vote it up? When using the Edit Multiple function field workers have the ability to edit fields that I have indicated as uneditable in the form. I also have a calculate expression on one of my fields that isn't honoured - the completion date MUST to be set to the date/time that the feature is updated in the field.

My use case is for a map that field workers use to indicate when potholes are filled. The edit multiple tool is necessary in this case as hundreds of potholes may be filled in a single day & the Completion Date is needed to indicate that we are meeting minimum maintenance standards for roads in our jurisdiction.

Hey Aaron, I have used a workaround to at least hide some fields.

However, I need to use a calculation for an inspection field so it will default to the correct day.

Has this been made possible now?

I'm in a similar boat. I have two fields that need to be edited and two that don't. When I go to edit multiple, you can ONLY edit the two that don't need multiple, the other fields don't even show up at all. This is the most bizarre functionality and I can't imagine why ESRI thought it made sense not to be able to use the form we create when we are editing multiple features. I thought I could probably complete the task of editing thousands of parcels in a couple of days with edit multiple. Now I realize it will take me several months to a year in order to edit each one individually.

Yes! I found this comment and it shows you how to use ago assistant to edit the json and change the editable and viewable fields.

I see there's an enhancement for this, I'm going to contact support and attach my organization to it, this is a pretty big oversight.

Not that I know of but I'd like to put some ideas out here for how we'd like it to work.

Since you don't modify geometry when editing multiple, we wouldn't want to evaluate calculated fields that use geometry functions or spatial joins
Have a check box in the form builder for each field to "include if edit multiple is enabled" - so that you have the option to exclude fields from the form when the user is editing multiple features
When multiple features are edited, calculated fields need to be evaluated for each feature individually
We have conditional visibility, conditionally required on forms; this needs consideration by Esri on how this should be handled when multiple features are selected that have different values.

Seeing this same issue 3 years later. We want to lock down editing so that the users make changes in the 123 form instead.

I was able to lock it down in forms by adding one Note type field with this message. Leaving all other fields out and it works ok.

But then if they use Edit Multiple all the fields are open again.

I cannot lock down all editing as we need it available for the 123 form. They can also just edit right there in the attribute table which I can not seem to turn off either.

Would love to see edit multiple respect the forms.

It absolutely needs to respect the forms.

You can disable Edit Multiple in the App Settings in the Field Maps Designer as an option.

I also have used the ArcGIS Online Assistant (esri.com) to lock down editing on the web map itself as well, someone had outlined the process on a thread from a busted link above Control edit multiple at the field level of a form - Esri Community
