GPS location not available

I have trouble seeing my current location on both online and offline maps using iPad that does not have any cell services linked.

If I click the arrow icon that is supposed to show my current location, it eventually says 'GPS location not available'. My current location is visible thoguh If I use it while using 'Add Offline Area'. Can anyone help me out what's missing and why it does not work on my device? When I test on my cell phone and it works fine but not the iPad.

Do you have any kind of handheld - bluetooth GPS device to test with the iPad?

Do you mean it is a WiFi only iPad or just no cell service is activated? WiFi only iPads do not have a GPS. The GPS is on the cell chip.

Hi Doug, yes my ipad only uses wifi, no cell service attached. that solves my questions. Thanks!
