Hi everyone,

I’m working on a field data collection workflow using ArcGIS Field Maps (Beta), and I’d appreciate some help troubleshooting an issue.

Objective:
I want to assign soil sampling tasks to my fieldworkers using a pre-existing point feature layer called sampling_points. Each point represents a location where a soil sample needs to be collected.

Desired Workflow:

I’ve enabled tasks on the sampling_points layer.

Each point should be a task assigned to a specific mobile worker.

The fieldworker should open the map in Field Maps Beta and see a list of assigned points in their To-Do List.

For each task, the user is expected to change a field called sampling_status from the default value "Not Sampled" to "Sampled" in the sampling_points feature class, and attach a photo of the collected sample.

The map is configured for offline use, and I intend to monitor progress through a dashboard.

What I’ve done:

Enabled tasks on the sampling_points layer using Field Maps Designer.
Assigned task values to each feature
The task fields are populated correctly, and editing is enabled.
The layer tracks editor info and is shared appropriately.

The problem:
When a fieldworker opens the map in Field Maps Beta and goes to the To-Do List, they see zero assigned tasks, even though their username is listed in the esritask_assignee field.

I suspect the issue may be related to the Task Access configuration in Field Maps Designer. I have not created or linked a view layer under the “Task Access” tab, and I’m unsure whether this is required for the To-Do list to work properly.

My Questions:

Is linking a view layer under Task Access required for assigned tasks to appear in the To-Do List?
Do I need to create filters manually for assigned tasks to show up?
Are there any additional steps I need to take after assigning task values to features in the web map?
Has anyone successfully implemented a similar sampling task workflow using Field Maps Beta?

This is not for commercial use, but just as a Proof of Concept as I await the full functionality to be rolled out.

@NgugiThuo Are you sure the view layer for Tasks has been added to the Field Map your mobile workers are accessing the beta mobile app? This was a point of confusion for me when I was trying this out for the first time - and it's a must.

Also, have the staff been assigned as Assignees?
