Problems with version 17.1

I've encountered two major issues with the new version:

1. Identifying features doesn't work. When I click on a feature to open the attribute pane, the field names are all displayed but none of the attribute values.

2. My organization's web mercator projected ortho basemap will not display.

Not a "problem", but the removal of the magnifying glass is a step backwards.

I posted this in the iOS beta place first:

We are seeing the same issue with July 10,2017 production release (17.1.0). All feature attributes appear fine in the map viewer pop-ups but not in the explorer app. We see some attributes that are configured in the web map, but not in explorer. Out of 21 fields configured for the pop-up on point feature, we see 5 fields with actual data when selecting a feature (which is painfully slow compared to previous app). Those 5 fields are a mixture of text, coded domain values, dates. The rest of the fields are blank.

All data in the web map is from our Enterprise server published map services, shared with the organization.

We miss the magnifying glass too!

I'm hoping that it gets fixed soon. We noticed pop up issues in features that took part in a group layer...also have search issues with those. There are bugs for all 3 issues.

Reply to Justin: Changed field alias to match field name on AGO and that didn't show the attributes. Matched alias and name and re-published map service and that does work.

In response to Robb: Also not seeing feature attachments, search config from AGO not honored and yes we have a group layer.

Here is a list of the 3 bugs I reported yesterday....they all seem related from what we can tell.

#BUG-000106480 - popups not working (the popups seemed fine for features that did not participate in a group layer. I assume as Justin said, we could probably change the alias to match the field name and it would work.)
#BUG-000106475 - Search not working (we noticed features not in a group layer worked fine regarding search...the ones in a group layer did not work.)
#BUG-000106474 - unable to toggle sub-layers on or off (only the group shows)

To Jeff: I am also seeing that the feature attachments are not working.

Just confirming we are having the same issues with fields using the Explorer app.

Also noticed that fields being used as media with hyperlinks are broken too, most likely due to the same issue.

We can't go in and change the aliases as this could break more things than fix . At least we have Collector to fall back on.

Had to have that app out in time for the UC....

Just confirming we’re having issues with the 17.1.0 release. We support a large Public Works mobile workforce with a full lineup of feature and map services. 150+ AGO users. All data and web maps are published from Enterprise Server. Until now not a problem. Most of our made for Explorer maps have grouped layers that require the user to turn on/off the individual layers. If we change to accommodate the latest release short comings it doesn’t solve the problem. It creates more configuration on our end that leads to additional support to reeducate the users. We spend a lot of time training our crews and don’t need to teach them new methods.

Pop ups are broken

New mark up label tool is confusing to beginners

Search is missing

Disappearance of Groups is not ideal. New GUI and menu doesn’t help the experience either. We’re running a fleet of iPad’s with all our crews across the Road Operations and Surface Water Management division. Not sure about some of these other new in app add on’s as well. It seems like a lot of change for one update. Suppose we could build work arounds in Collector, but that seems like a waste when we had a perfectly solid working product (understood change is good) but not in this kind of way. Trying to re configure Alias names would be a disaster for us.

Attribute fields are blank and attachments are missing as well.

Is Esri looking at these things to address for a potential patch update?

We're in a similar boat. I don't have quite that many users (at least not for the explorer app), but most that I do have were a bit apprehensive about using it in the first place. We've finally come to a place where everyone is doing well with it and then this release drops. I had seen these issues in the beta about a month ago and was told they were looking into it. I hope they get this resolved in a hurry, because it's become somewhat of a big issue for us.

Just want to confirm that we are also experiencing issues with the new release. PopUp window issues especially. Field labels appear, but no field values. Doesn't occur on all layers and appears to be limited to string fields.

Affecting our field operations staff!!!

We are experiencing this issue as well. I have a map service that contains our Water Distribution Network that displays all the attributes fine as a web map, but none of the attributes show up in Explorer. Plus I have attachments enabled on one of the features and they don't show up.

As a test, I published the same layer as a map service with feature access and created a new web map with it and enabled all the popups. All the attribute data shows up as expected and the attachments show up as well.

The map service and map service with feature access are published from our Enterprise database to ArcServer and we were using the Explorer app on iOS.

We are having the same issues with the pop-ups. This is totally unacceptable, even more so when I find out that people were pointing this out in BETA. How can a build release be done that has so many large bugs. Our client’s field personnel can’t access the data they need and rely on. It has eroded a lot of faith in the GIS from the field personnel and non-technical managers and reinforced their fears. It will be harder to add more services and expand their use of GIS. We have been building applications as always on and accessible and not having any timeline for a fix is very frustrating.

I did not like relying on a software base that we couldn’t control a version of for this very reason. I do prefer building custom applications for that reason but not all clients can afford a custom solution or want one.

It's now been over a week of this very important application working at maybe fifty percent of its functional value. Why has this not been corrected? While I understand that UC festivities prevented much or any work being done on this last week, at least re-release the previous working version so everyone who depends on this app can continue working normally while you correct your mistake.

You can add that the custom searches don't work either, only geocode addresses. We have a bunch of custom searches setup through AGO and none of them show up now in the new Explorer. Also a couple of our maps that use live data instead of cached data show ! instead of the symbols. Very frustrated with this release.

Are you speaking of URL's only or also integration with other apps? If other apps, how would you go about setting it up to communicate with another app? From what I found in Survey 123, the setup seems to differ with Explorer or even Collector. Integrate with other apps—Survey123 for ArcGIS | ArcGIS

Not sure if a downgrade would work.

I had a coworker who hadn't updated her app yet so I wanted to try see if the attribute information would show up. We fired it up and tried a few web maps and it wouldn't load any layers published to ArcServer, it wouldn't pass our credentials through and kept asking for them over and over.
