Public Land System Survey

I am trying to get a complete layer of sections for the state of Arkansas. The intent is to have a pop-up to show section, township, range. Also, I intend to create a query to allow a user to enter the section, township, and range for locating it. ESRI has the layer as a service, but it has several blank areas. Arkansas has a WFS service with the complete PLSS sections layer, http://www.geostor.arkansas.gov/arcgis/services/FEATURE_SERVICES/GEOSTOR_CADAS/MapServer/WFSServer , but ArcGIS Online Explorer gives an error when I try to add the service. Can anyone assist me in getting a complete PLSS layer for Arkansas? Thank you.

Thank you for the URL. However, I was unable to connect to it. I tried both Add Content and making it a Service. Maybe there is something fundamental that I'm missing. Could you add it in your ArcGIS Online account and include me in your Group? My user name is jrjolleyhome. Thanks. JJ

Sorry, the link I shared with you earlier works in ArcCatalog. To use any AGS map service in ArcGIS Explorer Online you need to hit a REST endpoint. Try this - http://www.geocommunicator.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services/PLSS/MapServer

I have a public-facing ArcGIS Explorer Online map with this service in the TOC

Did you finish your project? Did you get it all to work? I also am looking for a way to let users query by PLSS. And the popup idea you had would be nice to add as well. Thanks.

I was finally able to get connected to Geostor for Arkansas's PLSS. It needed a rest statement. Also, I requested that the data manager concatenate the Section Township and Range into one field. This allows the query function to locate a specified Section. Very useful. Thanks for all the help. JJ
