As stated in the documentation for ArcGIS Explorer Online, and as presented in the 2011 Esri UC, it is possible to drag-and-drop *.CSV tables to be displayed as features.

Is it possible to do this with Excel spreadsheets? We tried adding an MS Excel table with X and Y data to ArcGIS Explorer Online but it did not work. Instead an error was returned.

Attached is the screenshot of the error message.

Thanks,
Karen

I don't think Explorer Online takes MS Excel spreadsheets as input. Someone else might be able to verify this.

Would it be reasonable to save the Excel file to csv format? This format does not support tabs since it is ASCII text - only the current tab will be exported.
