Explorer Online not an option

I'm new to ARCGIS. I created a map in Explorer online and now when I select the "Open" button it only gives me the option to open it in ARCGIS.com Mapveiwer or Desktop. Does anyone know what I have done?

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't think there is enough information to work out exactly what you've done. Any map created and saved in Explorer Online can later be opened from arcgis.com site or vice versa. I've attached a couple of screen shots to illustrate - I created a map in Explorer Online called Explorer Online Map. When I'm logged in to arcgis.com I see my map listed as a Web Map and from the drop down i have the choice to open in Explorer Online, the arcgis.com map viewer or Desktop.

It's strange that you are not seeing the same. First of all please confirm that the content you are looking at is a web map. If it is, please can you share the map publically so we could investigate further.

It works just like you are showing from another computer using the same ESRI login, but from this computer only the ARCGIS .com viewer and desktop are available.

I tried to attach a sceen shot. can you see it?

Hi,
I can see the photo but unfortunately I do not know the reason why you are not seeing the Open in Explorer Online option. I'd suggest re-posting your question on the ArcGIS Online forum as well.

One couple of obvious questions:
1. can you actually run Explorer Online on this machine?
1. can you open other maps in Explorer Online on this machine by opening them from the arcgis.com site?
2. can you open this particular map directly from Explorer Online? i.e start Explorer Online then either search for your map and open it or login and go to My Content and open it. What happens?

Further to my previous post, a colleague has just told me that the Explorer Online option will only show up if the platform supports silverlight (a Microsoft plugin required to run this application). Could this be the issue? What platform are you running?
