Map tips and joined tables in 1700

Maybe I'm imagining things, but didn't Explorer used to be able to display map tips before 1700? I can't get them to work anymore on layer files.

Also, I can't get popups to display for layer files that consist of a feature class with a table joined to it. This used to work fine in 1500, and I haven't made any changes except installing 1700.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Wé've noticed the same thing with all feature layers.

Moreover enabling map tips in the popup content seems now to have the effect of disabling popups entirely when clicking on a feature in that layer.

The only way to get the popups working again is to disable map tips, save changes AND restart AGX.

We've instructed all our users to do the above. We have quite a few unhappy campers ....

I have reproduced both of these problems in ArcGIS Explorer 1700 and we will be working to fix these regressions.

In summary:

ArcGIS Layers (layer files .lyr and Layer Packages .lpk) no longer show maptips when viewedin 2D. (the maptips do display in 3D)

ArcGIS Layers (layer files .lyr and Layer Packages .lpk) with joins do not display a popup window when the feature is clicked.

Here at the council we have this problem also with SDE and shape layers....

I too am seeing some strange results with map tips and popups:
- AGX Query Layer on an SDE Feature Class - popups don't work unless zoomed out to 1:50000 or greater. (I am using the addin Zoom to Map Scale)
- SDE Feature Class - popups only work when zoomed out to 1:50,000 or greater
- I am seeing similar issues with ArcGIS Server Map Services but they are inconsistent.

Any update yet on restoring 2D map tips in 1700? Is there a work around in the meantime?

ESRI Explorer team,
It's been a month since this (frustating) problem was raised and repro'd as a regression.
Any news on a workaround or better yet, a fix?

There is no walkaround for this issue, the fix is ready and will go into the next release of ArcGIS Explorer, that is due in August.
