XY data help please!

Hi,

I am trying to add XY data to my map. My data source GCS_North_American_1983 matches the existing layer. I have also tried using WGS 1984. However, neither will show at the same time as my other layers. The original (North American) will show when I zoom to layer but the WGS (which has worked in the past in this situation) will not show even if I zoom to layer. Does anyone have any advice? Please and thank you in advance!

You may not be using the correct coordinate system. If, after you add the table and then add XY data, your points visually appear to look okay, make sure to look at your scale. If the layout of the points look okay, but your scale is either way small or way big, then you are most likely using the incorrect coordinate system and/or projection system.

Like Ellen stated, if you can pass your data over then it would be easier to help you. You can always make a copy and keep only a simple ID field (which could be made up) and your coordinate fields, then either attach it or email it to one of us.

The first pass doesn't have to include all of your data either. You could start with a smaller set if need be for us to test out.

Hey ya'll,

Not sure what I did but after repeatedly trying and tweaking it worked. I ended up using the WS1984 instead of North American. Thanks again!
