hi,
Meanwhile congratulations to the new forum, but know that many old threads have been deleted.
Then propose again the problem:
I can not view maps in 3D. Every time I switch from 2D to 3D program crashes and the only solution is to close. Also I get an error saying: "you have experienced problems during the final 3D visualization, sure to continue?".
What causes this problem? Basemap is already impossible to access (because the connection is via a proxy server in my company), at least I was hoping to use the map in 3D.
The problem is due more to the proxy?
the video card drivers are updated, OS: Win Vista, 4Gb RAM.
thanks for the answers

I have this problem also with 2D view but I solved with graphic card's driver updating.

For proxy server:
I entered all the information requested, but the username and pass are not saved and the list of Basemap is empty.
I had the same problem for the 900 version did not relate Basemap, but only the task "Find"
http://resources.arcgis.com/content/nimbus-bug?bugID=TklNMDU1MjIz
I think that are my problem.

For version 900 proxy server's bug aren't solved..
3D display problem

I've installed build 1200 a couple of days ago. Everything is working great at 2D. My map services, basemaps that are running on ArcGIS Server 9.3.1 , and the add-ins that I've built take only couple of seconds to respond. However when switch to 3D it takes forever for my basemap and map services to display. It says streaming at the bottom continiously, and nothing happens. It does not crash, so no crash report. The software is somehow responsive, I can zoom in zoom out, but can't exit the software, I have to kill it from the task manager. The layers that should display at country, city and street zoom level are not displayed at all. My base maps are all cached, and I just have a couple dynamic map service layers. All these are working without a glitch at 2D.
My ArcGIS explorer 1200 is running on a HP xw6400 workstation with 2 Intel Xeon CPU 2GHz, 2GB RAM, and Nvidia Quadro NVS 440 as the graphics adapter with newly updated drivers.
Any suggestions.
Thank you.

Sertaç TAKIL

OK, ran it. Passed except for meaningless CPU speed. Core i7 is 6 core cpu capable of running Google Earth in OpenGL mode, Microsoft FSX and our App simultaneously without cracking a sweat. But explorer will not switch to 3D without crashing the visualizer window. I emailed the DMP file from the initial crash. We would like to switch from Google Earth to Explorer but this is a killer.

Paul Mace

Minimum Recommended CPU
Minimum: Intel Pentium 4 or better, or Xeon Processors
You Have: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU U 640 @ 1.20GHz
   PASS

  CPU Speed
Minimum: 2.2 GHz recommended or higher
You Have: 1.20 GHz
Upgrade Suggested: Unfortunately, your CPU Speed does not meet this requirement. Presumably you clicked send on the error reporter (which means we'll have received it and analysed the dump file) but if you want to try reattaching it (or email it directly to mbranscomb@esri.com) that's fine.

Regards

Mike

Unfortunately this means there is no issue we can directly address to resolve the crash you're experiencing.

Regards

Mike

I'm having a problem similar to what "sertac" posted. I have eight or so .lyr files that I can bring into ArcGIS Explorer (build 1500) and zoom around in 2D with no problems. If I load only one of the .lyr files into my map, I can switch into 3D and it appears to work fine. If I load more than one, it hangs ("not responding," no CPU cycles, needs Task Manager's End Task to close).

I'm using an almost-new Dell workstation with a high-end NVIDIA Quadro graphics card (yes, just updated the drivers today), running Windows 7 64-bit. The data is all coming from the same file geodatabase feature class, with the .lyr files having definition queries, scale extents, etc.
