topic Unable to access geospatial data through FTP in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop Questions

I am trying to use an FTP site to hold an ArcX document, as well as all the geospatial data and files that are hyper-linked within the document. I can open the map through ArcX, but I cannot access any of the geospatial data. It does not recognize .gdb folders as geodatabases. I put the data on the FTP by copying through windows explorer. I attempted to copy them through ArcCatalog, but it will not connect to the FTP.
Layer files give an error message when I attempt to access them.
This may be more of an FTP issue, but it also seems like ArcX is attempting to access the data in a strange manner. It seems like it is being put in my local temporary folder, rather than directly accessing it from the FTP.

I can, however, get hyperlink to work that point to non GIS data on the FTP site.

If anyone has any insight on getting everything to work, or even just confirm that I can't access data off the FTP with ArcX, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

gabriel
