Weird.

Attched is an image of what it looks like. The only reason I have a basemap is that my saved default map is using the Bing basemap.

I had this problem with build 1200 also (but 900 worked fine).

Any advice would be much welcomed.

On 6/30/12 I started having the same problem exactly as described by Polsen below. When ARCGis Explorer starts up, I get the default basemap (Streets on one system, OpenStreetMap on the other), but when I try to change basemaps, all I get is a blank screen. This happens on both Windows 7 and Windows XP. Both operating systems have all Microsoft patches. In XP I tried disabling my software firewall (Norton); that made no difference. I can load maps from http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/services with no problem.

What changed?

Hi all,
I've got several users unable to access the Basemaps at AGX Build 1500.
I've just installed AGX 1750 and still no joy.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

When I goto: http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/services
I get the following:

[h=1]Server Error in '/ArcGIS/Services' Application.

[/HR]
[h=2]Runtime ErrorDescription:
An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error
settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from
being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by
browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable
the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines,
please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration
file located in the root directory of the current web application. This
<customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to
"Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --><configuration>    <system.web>        <customErrors mode="Off"/>    </system.web></configuration>

Notes:
The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by
modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's
<customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page
URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --><configuration>    <system.web>        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>    </system.web></configuration>

Cheers,

Cory
