Is there a way to change the label in the edit widget so that it displays a domain description and not the domain code?

This is confusing for my end users. Thanks!

Hi @JimW,

Thanks for reaching out about this issue with domains in the Edit Widget!

If you are attempting to edit multiple features using the Edit Widget in your Experience Builder app, unfortunately this behaviour can occur and is a known bug: BUG-000181299. The description of the bug is as follows: In ArcGIS Experience Builder, when using the Edit widget to select multiple features, the display field shows coded domain values instead of their corresponding labels for feature layers that have domains configured.

This bug currently has a status of In Review, meaning that it is currently being reviewed for its validity and relevancy before being placed into a future product plan.

However, there is a listed workaround, which is to go to the Edit Widget settings > General > and enable Batch Editing. If you are editing multiple features, once you have done this the domain labels should show up correctly.

Please feel free to reply to this comment if you have any further questions about the bug or workaround provided above, or if the workaround does not fix the issue on your end.

Warmly,

Charles Blanchard

Associate GIS Analyst, Esri Canada

ESRI has had 'issues' with domain code/description/labels since it's inception.
The most reliable way to get them to work 'consistently' and not confusing, is to make the code and description the same.
Realize there are times where the description is too large and wieldy, but in most cases when the descriptions aren't too complex (i.e. Asphalt, Grass), this has been the easiest/ most robust way to go.
This has made my job much simpler for the last couple decades

R_
