Cannot tell active mode for Select/Pan Tool in Select Widget

Prior to the recent AGOL update, I am pretty darn certain I was able to tell when the interactive Select Tool within the Select widget was in Pan mode vs Select mode. The tool would change from "light" to "dark". Since then, this color switch no longer happens. A user can't tell which functionality is currently engaged.

1) Illustrated in the video at the bottom of my post is the user moving between pan and select modes, twice. Notice there is no way to distinguish which action is currently engaged. Is it Pan mode? Select mode? Who knows! One has to interact with the map itself to tell.

2) Quirk: I see the briefest blip of activity on the Select tool when I first open the Widget... this screenshot is of a microsecond action where an outline runs around the tool and the tool darkens. It then reverts to the light background. To see this action, check the video. The blip occurs between seconds 0 and 1.

3) Finally, whether the tool is actively in Select mode or not, the help popup displays Select mode hints. (This is not in the video clip).:

The Select widget interacts with a Map widget.

My question is, did I dream up the ability to tell if the widget was in Select or Pan mode? (Can I get back to that dream!?)

Hello @AnitaB , for me in ArcGIS Online Experience Builder, the Select/Pan icon in the Select widget changes from Blue (Select mode) to White (Pan mode). What Browser are you using (I have Chrome). Do you see this problem even in a new (ie post-ArcGIS Online update) app ?

The Tooltip does indeed always refer to Select mode - but this is the same in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 so I suspect ArcGIS Online has always done that. It may be a Bug, let me check.
