geosearch result question

Hello,

Can anyone explain why the geosearch function (within the Search widget in Experience Builder) does not return any result or produces the message "No search results for <address>"?

Does geosearch function differently from other map apps (e.g. Google Maps) that attempt to approximate the location based on the address range in a particular stretch of the road/block?

Hi @dsinha ,

I cannot reproduce this bug.

Search suggestions don’t display a "No search result" message — they simply show nothing if there are no matches. However, if you press Enter to perform the full search, the "No result" message will appear as expected.

If you're still experiencing the issue, could you please share the locator service and a sample search input so I can investigate further?

You are right about the wording of error message. Here is a screenshot of the sample search input and the error message.

Could you please confirm how the locator works when provided with an address? Does it attempt to approximate the location based on the address range on a particular stretch of the road/block or does it only return a result if the actual address exists in the real world?

Hi, I tried the locator service and the sample search input you provided, and the search widget works fine on my side:

Could you check the settings for the search widget? Specifically, is "only search in current map extent" checked?

Hello @ShengdiZhang,

Did you click on the search result and see if it actually zoomed to the address location? I get the error message when I click on the search result.

Also, the locator I shared is a custom locator (Carlisle Geosearch) for our area of operation. Not sure if that is the reason I do not see the "only search in current map extent" option you referred to.

Hi @dsinha , which version of Experience Builder are you using? This bug isn't reproducible in the latest ArcGIS Online environment, but it may still be reproducible in an Enterprise environment.

Hi @dsinha , "I tested this in an 11.2 environment, and everything is still working as expected on my side. Could you please check the following requests in the Developer Tools > Network tab?

From my end, they all return the correct values.

Do you see any error messages associated with these two requests on your side?

Hi @dsinha ,

I just tested the app and everything is working fine on our end, as well as for others on the team.

I noticed in your screenshot that the request is timing out. Since it’s working normally for others, it’s likely something specific to your environment — possibly a firewall, proxy, or security setting that's blocking the request.

Other network activity might still work fine, so issues like this can be easy to overlook. If you have any security software or custom network configurations, it’s worth checking if they might be affecting this particular request. You could also try from a different network or device to help narrow it down.

Thanks @ShengdiZhang, you are absolutely right. When I tested the app outside our network, it worked fine.

I have contacted our IT team to figure out a solution.

This turned out to be a bug in Enterprise 11.2 that has been fixed in 11.4 and 12.

BUG-000175685: The Locator View is not working correctly when configured to search within a specified area in ArcGIS Experience Builder.
