Have tab expand from action item

Is there a way to automatically open a tab (or expand a sidebar) as part of an action task? In the scenario shown in the screenshots below, the user selects "Add to Table" from the Map Layers widget, which works as expected. However, they then have to manually expand the Sidebar widget to view the Table widget. We're wondering if it's possible to automate this step—so that the Sidebar widget (which contains the Table) expands automatically when the action is triggered.

There's possibly a way to do it with some custom code. I haven't looked into it. But here's the Idea to get it officially supported.
