Selection via URL not triggering actions

Hi,

I've recently built a mobile version of an app in ExB which is launched from a QR code and selects data in a list using the #data_s=where: URL parameter. The URL works in selecting the data but my list has actions attached to it including one that filters another list. Unfortunately this action doesn't trigger when accessing the app via the URL. The user needs to deselect the item in the list and then reselect it for the action to trigger.

Is this expected behaviour? I could have sworn this was working the other week but don't know if recent updates have changed things. Is there any way to get a URL selection to trigger a run-time filter?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Hi @Ke_Xu,

Thanks for the response on this. I created a test app to see if this happens outside my existing app and I was able to replicate the issue. You can access this app here. I've applied the select parameter in the URL that selects an item in the first list. This should filter the second list but doesn't and if you select another record from list one you can see that this action does work.

Hello, I am having this issue too, although just trying it for the first time so I don't know if it previously worked or not. Did you get to the bottom of this @AnthonyJonesRSK and @Ke_Xu ?

Hi @DebSF,

Unfortunately I didn't get any further responses from Ke Xu. I did raise this with Esri UK support though and they ended up attaching our case to an enhancement called ENH-000174440 which is not exactly the issue I was seeing but is described as "Since the ArcGIS November release, ArcGIS Experience Builder applications using custom URL filter parameters can no longer pan and zoom to filtered features". My issue is with a select action but the suggestion is that it's related to this enhancement.

The odd thing is that it's classed as an enhancement rather than a bug despite this apparently working before the November update. On our case it goes on to say "This Enhancement is raised from Defect: BUG-000172385 that was closed 'As Designed' with the following explanation: 'when using URL filter parameters, zoom to/pan to should not take effect. After the November 2024 release, we have fixed this issue'."

In my case it definitely feels like a bug as if you apply a selection via URL parameters surely this should trigger any actions too, in the same way a user would select a feature in the app and trigger the action.

I really hope we do get some feedback on this soon as it's really limiting our use of the URL parameters at present.

Thanks @AnthonyJonesRSK. I agree it does feel like a bug. The action should be triggered whether a feature is selected directly in the ExB app or via a URL parameter.
