Change order of user input options in the query widget

I have a query widget where the user is given a list of unique values to choose from. The widget automatically orders the values alphabetically. I would like them to be ordered differently, but can't seem to find a way to do this.

I tried making those field types "Ordered or Ranked" and "Type or Category" directly in the source feature layer settings, but that didn't do anything. For example, I want the order to show "Highest" -> "Higher" -> "Lower" -> "Lowest" but because the default is alphabetical, it is listed as "Higher" -> "Highest" -> "Lowest" -> "Lower". I would really like to avoid having to add number prefixes (e.g., 1. Highest) to force this. How can I achieve what I'm looking for? Thanks!

Agree - wish we could manually sort within all widgets.
