I have multiple overlapping points at sampling stations (one point per year) and I successfully drawn the symbols in the correct order so that the most recent sample is always shown on top. However, I just noticed that the label placed inside the point is related to an underlaying point and not the one on top. I assume that the symbol drawing order does not apply automatically to labels.
