I think it would be useful if as well as ^ label for the tabs on sidebars, we could label them with text as well. Icons might be nice too.

I second this. That way, users can see what they are opting to expand without having to click. e.g. I've opted to include the layer library and legend for a map in two nesting side bar widgets in an experience. These two tabs nest nicely but there's no way for the audience to know what the tabs on the side of the screen go to as they don't have labels.

YES! I was just trying to make this happen earlier this week. Allow a label tab with the icon in the sidebar slider.

Same. I was just working on my "medium" and "small" customizations. I would like the windows to start collapsed but then nobody would know what they are. Being able to put "Amenities" on this tab.

and "Parks and Legend" on this tab

would clear up a lot of screen real estate.
