Modify published services to https

Hello Everyone,

Is there a way to edit a published map service and change its url from http to https? I was hoping I could use the admin tool. (http://xxxxxx/arcgis/admin).

Admin tool (#1 below) looked promising as I could go in an edit services. When I accessed the services (using #1 below) in edit mode, there were a couple of locations that were specifying http. I changed them to https.

When I brought up the WebMap in AGOL it seemed the webmap was still referencing the service as http.

Am I on the right track? Thanks for reading..

If I add the service using https to the webmap I lose all the popup configs... I am hoping to preserve these.

I hope you are able to open the REST directory of ArcGIS Server using HTTPS (Configure HTTPS on ArcGIS Server).

Then, you just need to open the webmap in AGOL, replace the layers with the corresponding map services with HTTPS URL. Save the map.

Thanks for the reply. This was my thought too but when I do that I lose all the pop-ups. I will edit my original post and mention that. I am wanting to avoid re-doing my pop-ups.

Besides Jayanta's comment, (and I would try this on a test first), there are a variety of admin tools that will allow you to replace the URL....look thru them. There may be one that will change all the pointers, including the pop-ups (I have not investigated, but someone else may have already)

Thanks for the reply Rebecca, replacing the url with https would be our last option as pop-ups will need to be reconfigured. If I can access the actual service and edit it that will be the key.

I just thought maybe one of those tools my have an option to drill thru to the pop-ups, but again, didn't know for sure. The tools are for the AGOL admin side, not ArcGIS Server.

I see what you are saying, I didn't think of that. I was looking in Server for the solution, I will check out the AGOL admin stuff too.

Hi Shawn,

Is this what you're looking for - a way to change the references in your existing web maps from http to https?

I haven't tested this in terms of popups - the AGO Admin tool should be able to help address this too.

Many many thanks. You suggestion of using ArcGIS Online Assistant looks like the solution.

There is a "Update the URLS of Service..." option under "I want to..."

You can edit the service name there.

When I tested I was able to change my urls from http to https.

WebApps and WebMaps open and PopUps stay intact.

Your solution will allow us to go full-on https...
