See more about it here: &lt;A href="http://www.w3schools.com/xsl/xsl_languages.asp" title="http://www.w3schools.com/xsl/xsl_languages.asp"&gt;XSL Languages&lt;/A&gt;‌&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now how ESRI is using XSL in this particular case, I do not know. Is this "WMS response" you mentioned using XML? If so, then you might be able to just use XSL (XSLT or XSL-FO) to manipulate the XML response in whatever way you wish.       <title>Documentation about ESRI XSL-Format</title>
