Original User: friendde

When I use IE 9 I can not view the http://server.name.com/arcgis/rest/services. I have also tried http://server.name.com:6080/arcgis/rest/services, http://server.name.com:6080/arcgis/services and http://server.name.com/arcgis/services.

However on the very same computer I can use that same address with Chrome or Firefox to view the services.

This is a problem because in Catalog I want to add the Server to my maps. I get a "Error: Proxy server got bad address..." see attached screenshot.

On a coworkers computer he can add the server inside Catalog and he can go to the web address with IE. So I assume there a setting in Windows or IE that prevents my IE and Catalog from accessing the Server. The server is public and does not require a login account.

Product version differences can be ruled out, all the same. This occured on both the v10.1 client/server and v10.2 client/server.

The solution (or rather the source of the problem) is that our organization's computers have Microsoft Firewall Client For ISA Server app installed. I modified the configuration to use "Enable Web Browser Automatic Configuration". Now I can view services inside IE9 and I can add teh ArcGIS Server in my Catalog tab within ArcMap. See screen shot.
